After a 3 1/2 year search, Starwood Hotels is moving their headquarters to Stamford, CT in January 2012 in a building that Starwood is calling a “brand showcase”.

B.R. Guest & Starwood Capital (with Starwood being a behind the scenes player) have opened up the Post Card Inn on the Beach in St. Petes Beach, Florida. This is a surfing, beached themed hotel in a converted TravelLodge which is going after the budget conscious vacationer.
Will this be a new hotel brand for B.R. Guest (and Starwood Capital) or will this be a single location with a great theme?

MGM Mirage has finally bit the bullet and is reducing the prices of their condos at City Center by 30% – this seems to include both condos that have contracts out as well as condos not yet spoken for. This should speed up the process of closing on the existing contracts, as well as bringing new customers into the buying table.

Dubai is one of those places where it seems that nothing in real estate and development can go wrong. Things are slowing down there, but there is still much more optimism in Dubai than there is in the rest of the world – and I think it’s a little too much and the developers, and the government isn’t being realistic enough.
