Hilton Reportedly Having Breakup Talks With Blackstone

Amazing what 8 months can do in this economy. In January, Hilton Hotels looked to be the next darling of the hotel industry – not only was it owned by a cash rich parent – The Blackstone Group – who seemed to be willing to do whatever it would take to invest in the brand and make it #1, and was just about to launch two new brands – Home2Suites and Denizen. Hilton’s re-invigoration was going smoothly, Blackstone really seemed to be making an effort to ensure the viability of the company into a long term asset. Now today two newspapers are reporting that Hilton maybe broken up.

Work Is Suspended on Hilton’s Denizen Brand

Things have gone from bad to worse for Hilton. They were recently served a subpoena for their actions involving Starwood, which has forced them to suspend all activity on the Denizen brand development as well as placing most of the employees involved in Hilton’s Prestige Portfolio on paid administrative leave – including Ross Klein and Amar Lalvani.

Cosmopolitan Las Vegas Updates – And My Personal Take On Things

The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas has been a recurring story here on my blog. A lot has happened with the project in the past week – MGM & Deutsche Bank stopped talking about merging CityCenter with the Cosmo, Hilton signed a management contract for the Cosmo, and a suddenly a re-do of the interior design of at least one tower of the Cosmo has been ordered.
