Details and Pictures of Bungalow hotel in Pier Village

Awhile back I wrote about the Bungalow Hotel at Pier Village in Long Branch, NJ. This hotel is due to open prior to Summer 2009, and is a true boutique hotel – having a little over 20 rooms, and not being managed by a major hotel chain.

Recently, one of the contractors on the project was kind enough to send me pictures of the interiors of Bungalow. While the project is still under construction in the interior, some parts of the units are able to be viewed. The lobby is still nothing but sheetrock, so there is nothing to see there – but some of the rooms are coming together. The pictures that i’ve seen have rooms that have fireplaces as well as wet bars, and almost floor to ceiling windows, giving some very nice views of the ocean. The beds look to be placed on a platform with the headboard and drawers attached to the wall – a modern feature that even Hilton’s Home2 is incorporating into their design. Unfortunately due to the position of the building and its surrounding buildings, most rooms will probably not have an ocean view.

The fireplaces are gas fireplaces – but instead of fake wood, the fire appears in between marble rocks – a pretty unique design feature. Additionally the buildings exterior sticks out from the surrounding areas with a brown (or wood – I cannot tell) accent. The roof over the front entrance has a design element that is VERY similar to the Aloft swoosh – but this will not be an aloft.

The entire Pier Village development is owned and managed by Applied Companies, which is also building the W Hoboken.

I haven’t been able to find any details on when it will open for sure, there is no website and still only a minor minor mention on the www.PierVillageLiving.com website. I highly doubt the project has been cancelled because its only a minor part of a very large development – if anything it’s almost assured of selling out in the summer due to its location – and also the clientelle the surrounding Pier Village attracts (wealthy NYCers).

Below are some images provided by Baltic Stone (www.balticstone.com) who did the stone work and tiling that you see in the pictures.

With the publicity that Pier Village has given the Jersey Shore and the town of Long Branch – the opening of Bungalow should help push it to another level. I’m looking forward to its opening.
